Asteroid Goddess of Sharing, Attachment-Style & the Pathology of Loss through the Zodiac
Sandwiched between Mars and Jupiter, Ceres is the “Motherload” of the cosmos, being officially the largest object of the asteroid belt. Goddess of agriculture, grain, fertility and motherly love, her dominion encompasses parent-child dynamics of all sorts. Astrologically speaking, Ceres represents the seasonal rhythms of nature, motherhood and fertility, parenting and reproduction, fostering and adopting. Themes of unconditional love, parent-child bonds, self-worth, devotion, attachment, separation, sacrifice, loss and grief all factor prominently into her vast matrix. As astrology’s Earth Mother, Ceres is about your relationship with the physical world, with the land. As such Ceres also governs our food supply, money, physical touch, scarcity and famine.
A dynamic figure of myth, Ceres is immortalized in the story involving the kidnapping of her daughter Persephone by Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. Enduring much grief and suffering over the abduction of her daughter, Ceres’ story is a drama of loss and reconciliation. One day, away from her Mother’s watchful gaze, Persephone wandered in the Nissan fields where she was magnetically drawn to the fragrant, lovely beauty of the narcissus flower. As she plucked it and inhaled its intoxicating fragrance, the Earth split open beneath her feet and from the deep abyss emerged Pluto, riding in his fiery golden chariot pulled by four screeching black horses. Pluto seized Persephone, ravished her and carried her off to the realm of the dead to make her his bride and queen.

In her rage, Ceres retired to her temple where she prepared mankind for a cruel, unbearable year. The Earth would heretofore remain barren, fruit would rot in the trees. Ceres as all-nourishing Mother symbolizing the cultivated, fertile soil that feeds and provides for humanity – her rage left the whole world hungry. Eventually, Zeus stepped in and sent messenger god Hermes to the underworld to command Pluto to release Persephone. With cold and frozen beauty, Persephone had been following her mother’s lead in mourning – fasting and refusing to drink. Pluto agreed to let Persephone go but first offered her several pomegranate seeds, a symbol of sexual consummation that would render her marriage union with him indissolvable. When Ceres reunited with her daughter only to realize she had in fact been tricked and that Persephone was not really free, she refused to lift her curse on the land.
Ceres, Goddess of Grain, had withdrawn her blessings from the world causing plants to die and masses of people to go hungry. Eventually, a compromise was made. Persephone was allowed to spend six months each year above ground with her mother and six in the underworld with Pluto. From then on it came to pass that each Spring Persephone would emerge from the underworld to join Ceres who would in turn ensure an abundant harvest was had by all. Plants grew, flowers blossomed and crops filled the fields once again, only to perish come Fall whence Persephone would make her annual return to the underworld. Metaphorically speaking, Pluto’s rape of Persephone symbolizes the damage done by patriarchal cultures espousing rape and violence as tools of domination against indigenous peoples whom have always had great reverence for the Earth and all her living beings. More broadly speaking, one can envision Ceres rites of passage as being lived out by modern persons as stages of psychic transformation, also called ‘shadow work’ or the ‘Descent of the Goddess.’
A complex archetype to say the least, Ceres simultaneously holds and expresses deep love, intense rage and incredible grief. In ASTEROID GODDESSES: The Mythology, Psychology and Astrology of the Re-emerging Feminine, what I draw from in the Ceres astro-insights by sign below, Demetra George and Douglas Bloch outline how the feminine archetype first manifests as Ceres, the Mother aspect representing unconditional love which sustains and nourishes new life forms. Through her association with the Eleusinian Mysteries, Ceres contains the secret of birth, death and renewal. With occult teachings encompassing everything from the blood mysteries to the ripening womb; Ceres presides over menstruation, menopause and menarche; transformation and death. Her outer color green symbolizes vegetation and cultivated soil. Her inner color blue-black is symbolic of the underworld were seeds lie dormant in the Earth each winter. Corresponding to North and the IC of a natal chart, Ceres represents the principles of foundation, roots and family. Through the wisdom of unconditional love, Ceres teaches us about how sharing and letting go lead to reunion.
Astrologer Molly McCord speaks to Ceres as concerning the emotionally transformative process of parenting. Parents are not only responsible for their children but they must one day let them go. In this light, Ceres is about processing and moving through cycles of renewal, or the ‘seasons’ of human experience. We can call it mothering or motherhood, including all forms of care-taking and the self-parenting or re-parenting we do in maturity. When one becomes overly attached to their role as mother, as ‘good breast,’ or to their children, creations or possessions – it is Ceres who holds them through the transformative process of loss and renewal. Ceres teaches us about the ways we can feel grounded through the many changing seasons of life. There’s a great deal of spiritual significance within parent-child dynamics, particularly when we consciously work to release unhealthy habits and defense mechanisms developed in early-childhood. When we accept that our children are our greatest teachers, we break the chains of seemingly endless karmic cycles. Ceres not only shows us how we care for and nurture others, but provides celestial insights into what we experience around the larger responsibilities in life, including how we are always connected to much more than we may initially perceive.
Her association with death, dying, grief and loss has her physical and psychological manifestations including everything from postpartum depression to miscarriage and empty-nest syndrome. Ultimately, Ceres is about how we fully support another while also allowing them to be their own unique and distinct person. As McCord highlights, Ceres reminds us that nothing is ever lost, but merely changes form – and that transformation is inevitable and to be embraced. Ceres experienced the return of her daughter but not as she once new her. In fact, Persephone’s power as bride of the underworld was enhanced, distinguished from Ceres own power as never before. Ceres is a worker focused on the harvest, either spiritual or material – and her energy of unconditional love and support creates bounty, whether in the form of physical progeny or other great works.
As the original Mother figure, Ceres has been associated with Cancer, Virgo and the Taurus-Scorpio axis. In Ceres’ association with Virgo, she embodies the archetype of a ‘Virgin Goddess’ in the rightful sense of a woman who is her own mistress, doesn’t belong to any man, and is aware of her powers and value. Another obvious affinity with Virgo energy is Ceres’ association with the Eleusinian mysteries, ancient initiation rights constellating the eternal continuity between cycles of birth, life, death and regeneration. One of the most ancient meanings of Virgo being fertility, the original title for Virgo simply meant ‘furrow’ or ‘vulva.’ In Hinduism, where the sickle glyph symbolic of Ceres is revered as a symbol of Divine Mother, or Shakti – we see Ceres in the sacred geography and gynocentric spiritual practices sacred to tribal India, where crevices or indents in the Earth are deified as thresholds of the divine feminine. Linked to hundreds of Goddesses in a network of association called the shakta pithas, or “power seats,” of the Goddess, furrows in the Earth, symbolic of the sacred yoni, make-up profound networks of pilgrimages places which provide a sense of sacred continuity and belonging for Hindus. At the great shrine of the Goddess Kamakhya in Assam, a simple depression of stone deep in a cave is the yoni of Shakti. Here all plowing of the Earth ceases in observance of the Goddess’s menstrual period, with the new cycle of plowing and planting beginning immediately afterward.
Virgo-ruled Ceres is the Mother of Holy Virgins whom served the Goddess through sacred sexual rites. Ceres was only one of Rome’s many agricultural deities. Before vegetal goddesses of wild plants were transformed into agricultural divinities, before religious institutions coopted the signs and symbols of Goddess-worship, shrines of pagan Europe featured sacred bread ovens and ritualized braided bread to ensure the unbroken agricultural cycle ruled by Ceres. Grains were mixed with menstrual blood and baked into cakes, some of them genitalia-shaped! Triangles symbolizing the vulva of the Goddess, classic biove the two plump mounds of her buttocks. The modern tradition of St. Joseph’s Day bread baked in zoomorphic shapes to decorates Catholic altars, recalls, albeit in a watered down, sex-negative format – the gravity of Ceres’ primordial mother rites.
The archetype of Ceres has many world counterparts from Egyptian Isis to Buddhist Tara. Greek mythology’s Ceres counterpart is Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest. Demeter is Earth Mother who guards the fields and also called ‘Law-Bringer’ – being the female embodiment of ‘civilization’ afforded by agricultural advancements. The sickle glyph representing Ceres in a natal chart is both sickle and cross of matter, the former representing Ceres’ connection with agriculture and her role as nourisher, the latter representing physical reality and the four elements. In Italy, she is the “Madonna Lattante” (Madonna Breastfeeding) popularized in Byzantine era art. As the Nurturing Dark Madonna of Italy – sensual, sweet, smiling Mother Mary feeds baby Jesus her milk.
Madonna Lattante ‘the magical breast mother’ is officially derivative (as all Madonna and Childs are) of Egyptian Isis and Horus. As one of the Black Madonna pantheon, she is an icon whom the Catholic Church has been systematically whitening the complexion of for years. As if echoing Ceres mythos, anthropologist Felicitas D. Goodman identifies the whole of modern day Catholic mass as evident of the ‘Nurture Branch’ within her greater framework illustrating the origins of human religious behavior. Said evolution, as she outlines in her book Ecstasy, Ritual and Alternative Reality: Religion in a Pluralistic World happened in succession with the move from Hunter-Gatherers, to Horticulturists, to Agriculturalists to Nomadic Pastoralists to City Dwellers. The final city-dwelling person being, fully “divorced from the habitat” as land becomes commodity, and food, business.
As the supreme Mother Power, many astrologers closely associate Ceres with Cancer, representing the maternal function in our lives. As ruler of Cancer, Ceres is about giving and receiving nurturance as well as self-worth and how we respond neurotically when our needs aren’t met. ‘Maternity’ being both intimately connected to the mothering experience we had as a child as well as how we show up as parents, or not. Ceres-type individuals usually feel a powerful need to become a parent, raise and provide for their children. Through a Cancerian lens Ceres says something profound about how the quality of our mother’s physical and emotional life was transmitted to us in utero. That is, before we had any notion that we were in fact separate from mother’s body – we felt her continuously as warmth, rhythm (the heartbeat), nutrition and comfort. The Moon or ‘parent’ of Ceres is exalted in Taurus, indicating how lunar energy is grounded through the physical reproductive organs where procreativity provides for fundamental human needs. As primordial Goddess of agriculture Ceres grounds the lunar energy into the physical plane to ensure an abundant harvest. As ruler of the Scorpio-Taurus polarity, here Ceres governs issues around attachment-style (anxious, avoidant or secure), the pathology of loss and rejection, our capacity for grief and sorrow and the principle of sharing of a sensual nature in the form of food, intimacy and love.
As many Western women have come to learn the hard way, the damage and distortion done to our mother’s bodies and self-perception by patriarchy has had a disproportionate effect on our adult experience of nutrition, diet, self-care, love and romance. Some of us have replaced sex with food, or vice versa. For the righteous, the birthing experience necessarily begins with a refusal to capitulate to the widespread fear, pro?t-mentality, surveillance and control of women’s bodies characterizing the current medical model. When we choose to breastfeed, risking the shame and objectification imposed by the Western hemisphere’s sex-negative climate, we show up for our children to provide the type of presence and nutrition money can’t buy. Not only does breastfeeding provide optimal nutrition, breastfeeding is when Mother and baby bond. In fact, human’s have less calories in their breastmilk than most other mammals due to the fact that a lot of what your baby is getting is the warmth of human presence. Less rich milk nutritionally speaking ensures more time spent at the altar of mother’s sacred heart.
Meanwhile, breastfeeding mother’s are rewarded with the “mothering hormone” known as prolactin, also found in the bloodstream during deep relaxation, meditation and hypnosis. Which is one reason why breastfeeding mothers experience lower rates of depression. Other benefits of breastmilk include crucial antibodies which help your baby fight off viruses and bacteria and reduced risk of disease in the long-run. Breastfeeding promotes healthy weight for mother and child and makes babies smarter, evidenced by studies which demonstrate long-term positive effects on baby’s brain health. Azuri, a doula and ‘Birth Keeper’ serving greater NYC, breastfed her son Phoenix for 821 days before sharing this photo below during #blackbreasfeedingweek. If Ceres energy works to deepen our connection to Earth, we must learn to eat consciously and with gratitude. We must recall communal meals as a radical act fostering social cohesion. We must heal our relationships to our bodies, our food supply and the manner in which we take and give nourishment. Ceres rules sharing as well as food complexes and disordered eating. When looking at Ceres placement in our natal chart we might begin by asking, How do you approach change and loss? In her shadow realms, Ceres manifests as complexes around food, passivity and smother-mothers. Alternative modes of expression of Ceres energy include children’s educators, midwifery and natural childbirth, farming, gardening, nutrition, hospice work, single parenting as a conscious choice and at the macro-level, tackling world hunger.
In her popular book Post-Colonial Astrology Alice Sparkly Kat explores how the problem of world hunger is a construction of colonial imperialism. She associates famine (ruled traditionally by both Mars and Ceres) with ‘crisis [as] a normalized institution that develops technology for profit.’ A look at the colonized territories of the so-called ‘3rd world’ reveals how ‘famine’ is a socio-political strategy engineered by the colonizer to detach people from their homeland. After which, that land is stolen. Under British rule, millions died as India suffered twenty-four great famines in just fifty years, a result of British administrative planning aimed at dissolving tribal India’s link to the land. Typically as the food shortage accelerates, citizens surrender all land in exchange for food and become prey to institutionalized ‘famine pawns’ in service to the colonial state. In a statement far too reflective of today’s general climate of scarcity and fear, Sparkly Kat writes, ‘Natural disasters are politically engineered, disaster is always manufactured, and emergencies are planned…Famine is exceptional not because it is abnormal or rare but because it is simply something that does not happen to white people.’

We all know the saying ‘Food is Love,’ and indeed, Ceres corresponds to our first experience during infancy in which we receive love from our mother as nourishment in the form of food, what becomes the foundations of our sense of self-worth. Ideally, we experienced nourishment directly from mother’s breast, and her love was unconditional. However, we may not all relate to the archetype of an unconditionally-loving mother. Ceres rules nurturance as well as our relationship to care-takers in early childhood, including the defense mechanisms we developed to hold back the destructive power of our authority figures (be they of blood or state). Ceres here becomes the significator of the secret or unrealized dreams, anxieties and fears transferred from mother-to-child. Ceres’ lower-expressions might manifest as the absence of self-worth, being or feeling parentless, incest, sexual violence or custody issues. Is obsessive attachment generating the lesson of non-attachment? When nurture is expressed in order to fulfill the need for power and control, Mother-love becomes neurotic and self-defeating.
Of course, Ceres shows up in each chart in a unique way. Where Ceres is aspected to Mars, the nurturing impulse combines with the masculine principle of action and assertion, linking our ability to act with subconscious feelings of self-worth. Ceres-Venus aspects call on us to explore where a feeling of being attractive and pleasing to others is ineffably linked to our core sense of worthiness. Where she is aspected to Pluto, we may experience her influence in the form of chronic, heartbreaking separation or loss. Here Ceres teaches that pain is impermanent. Those that successfully endure her trials emerge stronger and more heart-centered. Death is a gateway to rebirth, goes her most ancient teaching, popularized in slogans like ‘from the womb to the tomb.’ At whatever scale, Ceres speaks to the necessity of loss, what creates space for new growth.

While we don’t think of Ceres as a traditional witch-type, her story encompasses the full spectrum of female energy from maiden to mother to crone. While often overshadowed by the dewy youth of maiden Persephone, Hekate is the crone of the triad. As the witch that heard Persephone’s cries when she was banished to the underworld and raped by Pluto, Hekate is all night, darkness and travail. Hekate reminds us that there is no goodness without evil, no rise without the fall. As folklorist Kay Turner informs, Hekate was also banished – to a land that had always been hers. Hekate’s knowledge of death, encased in the sweet scent of dirt and darkness of gloom, inescapable ugliness and sorrow; recalls how healing is never linear. In every moment we must choose life, presence, potency. Written out of myth because she was neither bride nor wife, neither naive nor easy – Hekate wasn’t rapturous rapable maiden nor distraught compliant Mother. Hekate was WAY TOO MUCH and nothing at all. Triple Goddess associated with thresholds, crossroads and lunar consciousness, Hekate ensures that no victims’ cries go unheard. At the same time, she reminds us there is no escaping the karma or pain we reincarnated to resolve in this lifetime. Because just like her despicable grace, we are the eternal return.
In a natal horoscope Ceres describes psychological experiences of the ways in which we face issues of self-esteem and self-worth, relationship to our parents and children, attachment, dependency, separation and loss, rejection, death and renewal, our capacity for grief and sorrow, sharing, work and productivity. Ceres indicates what types of experiences will foster feelings of self-love and self-acceptance, or self-rejection and criticality.

Ceres in Cancer *Can’t Help Someone, If You’re Too Involved*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: SZA
Ceres in Cancer is nurtured by mothering and being mothered with an emphasis on protecting and taking care of kin. Ceres in Cancer receives nurturance through being with Mother, feeling loved and being fed. If needs are met in early childhood, one excels at caring for others both physically and emotionally. Self-acceptance is based on one’s ability to express feelings and master emotions. Imbalance occurs when the child is either deprived of nurturance (Ceres weeps, a mother abandoned, childless and alone, the whole world begins to die) or smothered with love and affection – either case leading to excessive neediness or emotional dependency into adulthood. A neutral placement, Ceres in Cancer’s capacity for wellness, healing, nutrition, organization and service is deeply influenced by mood. You may enjoy cooking for or doting on others. You’d likely make for a wondrous emotional healer, therapist or at the very least, active listener. Perhaps it is a sweet and subtle protective energy you offer to beloveds. Creating a nurturing home environment is key – this is your sanctuary. Quite sentimental, you may be drawn to teaching and call on expressive modes like storytelling and metaphor to creatively demonstrate or share your culture of origin. Red and purple foods offer the best nutrition. Health issues, if any, manifest in the area of the chest, stomach and emotional body.
Ceres Rx: HERITAGE KULFI ICE CREAM
Ceres in Cancer doubly reminds us that the nature of humankind is inherently Matriarchal. The key to Ceres in Cancer’s happiness is to embrace the Mother Power within. All Cancerians are witches, whether they realize it or not. Cancer’s domain is feeling action, that is, a power which lies in actively purging emotions. In the name of nourishment, it’s no coincidence that the breasts, stomach and womb fall under Cancerian rulership. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer represents the Mother Principle which presides over flows of fluids in the body, including of course, Mother’s Milk. Did you know humans are the only mammals that still drink milk after infancy? It’s a wonder we seem to have as many creamy dairy deserts as we do bulimics, anxious-avoidants and adult children running amok. Personally, I unapologetically breastfed my son in public for years! I also unapologetically love ice cream – I just no longer need to eat the whole pint. When I do indulge in it, I choose only the finest. And the more mindful I am about my choices, the more I find that a little goes a long way.
One of my new favorites is Heritage Kulfi Ice Cream, a dense and creamy South Asian inspired nosh with a subtle flavor profile sure to please the strictest of creamy connoisseurs. Made with only the finest, most thoughtfully source ingredients, flavors like Rosewater, Saffron, Pistachio, Sweet Cream and Chai (made with handpicked spices!) elevate the tasting experience to decadent love affair. Named for the beloved creamy concoction which is a traditional part of the national cuisines of India, Pakistan, and Trinidad and Tobago – Kulfi is unbearably creamy because it’s made by slowly simmering full-fat milk until it thickens and reduces, creating a richer texture. Kulfi traces its origins to the dense, milk-based creams enjoyed by royalty in the Mughal Empire of the 16th century. Think sumptuous flavors without harmful additives. Not only does it melt slower, it’s simply much denser and creamier than regular ice cream, which means you’ll eat less and feel more satisfied. Pair the Cardamon Chai with a cup of hot tea and you’ll be in seventh heaven.

Ceres in Virgo *Healer of Body & Mind*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Sofía Margarita Vergara
Ceres, Goddess of Grain aka ‘Mother Earth’ offers insights into patterns of nurturing, caretaking and expression of maternal instincts. As ruler of Virgo, the food of all-loving mother becomes the actual physical nourishment that builds, sustains and repairs the body.

Approaches matters pertaining to health, healing, nutrition organization and service with a sense of duty, seriousness and rigor. Perhaps one finds great joy in planning and organizing one’s life – even the lives of others. Teaching, listening and helping others find real and achievable solutions to their problems comes naturally. Feelings of self-worth arise form mastering a skill and expressing it in the world. Physical exercise is key. Drawn to the occult. As a Body-Mind balance healer, one may work in the medical field, especially naturopathic, or alternative medicine. Nurturing style is practical, grounded, methodical, detail-oriented and focused on service. Expressing care through acts of practical support, you have an earnest desire to contribute to the well-being of others. Imbalances result when caretakers in early childhood were too critical, leading to an obsessive need to be ‘perfect’ later in life. Helping others achieve more clarity and peace brings fulfillment. Where health issues arise they likely effect nerves, hands and intestines. Ceres in Virgo grows and succeeds by fostering competence, self-discipline and discrimination with an emphasis on the achievement of excellence. Virgo the Virgin’s co-rulership of Ceres is indicated in the pictograph in which Ceres carries a stalk of grain and wears a crown of wheat or corn, the all-nourishing mother’s food as love becoming the actual physical intake that sustains, builds and repairs the cellular structure of the body. Having given humanity the gift of agriculture, she echoes the Virgoan quality of efficiency. With Virgo ruling intestines, Ceres-related illnesses may tend to show up as digestive imbalances, gastrointestinal disorders and assimilation difficulties.
Ceres Rx: WHOA DOUGH
Ceres comes home to it’s co-ruler Virgo. Not only does she celebrate grain – glorious grain – as nourishment par excellence, she uses discretion to cultivate only the richest soil and most nutritious harvest for lasting longevity. Ever wondered how ‘dough’ became slang for currency? Why we use the term ‘Breadwinner’ to describe the highest earning member of a household? As alluded to in Ceres mythos above, dough’s linguistic association with money is etymologically tied to the ancient practice of bread making. Essential foods are linked with money and survival, hence the age-old proverb ‘Bread is the staff of life,’ a metaphor transcending cultural boundaries. However, Ceres in Virgo, Diva of discretion, reminds us that bread ain’t what it used to be. Ever run a fine toothed-comb through your habits, diet and routine? Are you making sure to eat foods that replenish rather than deplete your vitality? As the sign of health or disease, Ceres in Virgo urges us to make choices which enable, rather than retard growth. Whether you’re a Pet Mom, Plant Mom, Baby Moms or reparenting yourself at any age, Whoa Dough Cookie Dough Snack Bars offer wholesome nutrition without the gluten-hangover. A healthy back-to-school snack or convenient grab-and-go treat – Whoa Dough is plant-based, non-GMO, vegan, allergen-friendly and made without gluten, dairy, soy, or eggs. Packing between 4–5 grams of protein per pouch, Cookie Dough Snack Bars are available in chocolate chip, sugar, sugar sprinkles, peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate chips, brownie batter and oatmeal flavors. Keep them in the fridge to ensure that firm, almost too-good-to-be true texture.

Ceres in Libra *Diplomat of Growth & Renewal*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Britney Spears
Ceres in Libra natives associate nurturing with cooperation, right conduct and equality in relationship. Ideally, caregivers in early childhood fostered sensitivity to others and a positive attitude toward relationships. Partnership and diplomacy are guiding forces in life. You may attach your self-acceptance to an ability to create harmony in your environment. Caution around placing one’s need to be accepted over self-determination. Seeking equilibrium in all aspects of existence, in what ways can you actively engage in the dance of give and take, ensuring that all involved feel heard and respected? Ultimately, Ceres is about growth and renewal. In Libra, this means sharing in growth with others in a meaningful, balanced way. Your innate ability to reason and negotiate could probably solve world peace, if only they’d ask! Approaches nurturing with a strong sense of diplomacy, a desire for harmony and a commitment to creating balanced relationships. Finds fulfillment in providing support through acts of kindness, fostering cooperation and maintaining a sense of fairness for all. Nurturing style is harmonious and often focused on creating a pleasant, aesthetically pleasing environment for those you care for. Where issues of lack and sharing are not addressed, alliances and partnerships suffer. Ceres in Libra is nurtured by all things beautiful with an emphasis on good manners, cooperation and social graces.

Ceres in Scorpio *What’s Yours is Mine*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Scarlett Johansson
Ceres enters detriment opposite ruler Taurus. Taurus is sensuality, Scorpio sexuality. Taurus represents gradual pleasure, Scorpio orgasmic intensity. Taurus owns, Scorpio shares. Taurus maintains separateness, Scorpio merges. Taurus is life, Scorpio death/rebirth. While Taurus epitomizes pure Ceres nature, Scorpio gives Ceres little scope for true expression. Ultra possessive (with a little watery boundarilessness thrown in), the motto for this aspect goes – What’s mine is mine, what’s yours is mine. While the underworld moves Ceres to share— resentment is often the outcome. Perhaps you feel that your own money must come from others, but resent the dependency and emotional traps. In a life ridden by financial deaths/rebirths, situations emerge which drain financial reserves requiring a rising from the ashes like scenario. ‘Earth Mother’ Ceres in Scorpio intensifies mother/child connections and mother wounds. Do you experience codependency or entanglement with your own Mother? Perhaps it was a Mother or caregiver who overprotected or engulfed, delivering TMI about adult life. Nurturing style is intense and transformative within the emotional and psychological realms. Expresses care through profound emotional support, a commitment to depth, truth and transformation. Caution around a counterintuitive restlessness —always pressing for satisfaction and satiation, but needing extremes of wealth, affection, stability and safety to achieve it. Ceres in Scorpio grows and succeeds through deep intimate bonding with others with an emphasis on self-empowerment. Consider that Ceres’ adversary Pluto happens to rule Taurus’s opposing sign Scorpio. In fact, the anniversary of the Buddha’s enlightenment, annually observed during Taurus season on the full moon in scorpio, dials in Buddhist teachings concerning attachment (Taurus) and letting go/death (Scorpio). In being forced to relinquish her daughter to the lord of regeneration, Ceres lives out these very universal themes. Ceres in Scorpio, are you craving more from a place of pleasure or fear? Don’t become too fixed in your pursuits, like the wolf, perpetually howling.
Ceres Rx: Ladywell
Few women benefit as readily from the psychological shifts elicited by sex as does the Scorpion. Interesting however that Scorpio correlates with the ‘Crone’ stage of the Triple Goddess and with ages 49-56, also the onset of menopause. Mirroring the Plutonian correlation to growth via elimination, interesting how menopause still remains a giant mystery to doctors and scientists. As I’m sure any Ceres in Scorpio native can imagine, despite being pegged as the most sex-crazed, Scorpio is rarely in search of sex for sex’s sake. Instead she stakes out a permanent mate with whom to propagate. “Scorpio is convinced she is doing a man a favor by being with him, whether for a fortnight or forever. Given the indelible mark she makes on the men she’s been with, they’d all be first to agree,” Starsky and Cox’s SEXTROLOGY informs. Which is why, dear Ceres in Scorpio, your seasonal Rx is the latest in Fertility + Egg Support brought to you by Ladywell. An ultra-targeted formula, Ladywell brings you clean ingredients supporting every stage of the pregnancy journey whether one is trying to conceive, family planning, or egg freezing (Scorpio is frozen water, you Ice Queen you!) Formulated by experts in women’s fertility to help you and your eggs thrive, it’s a great way to enhance your chances of conceiving naturally. Known for bridging the precision of Western functional medicine with the wisdom of Eastern medicine, Ladywell supplements are formulated by naturopathic doctors, functional herbalists, and experts in women’s health. In a world that loves surface level solutions, Ceres in Scorpio’s x-ray vision needs to penetrate to the cellular core. Meaning, you need the type of fertility support that aims to transform both mental and physical wellbeing. At the threshold where purity meets potency, Ladywell founder Ashley Rocha is not only a passionate and progressive Herbalist but a blessed Mother of Two.

Ceres in Sagittarius *The No-Strings Guru*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Michelle Obama
Ceres in Sag identifies nurturance with freedom to explore and expand. Ideally, care takers in early childhood fostered your insatiable thirst for adventure. In turn, you nurture others by teaching them how to awaken their mental, physical and spiritual capacities; helping others cultivate meaning in their lives. Self-acceptance is based on one’s ability to find a life purpose and constantly expand consciousness. Failure to dial-in life purpose may lead to a sense of aimlessness, or the feeling that life is meaningless and void. Igniting with the spirit of a renegade explorer, your journey becomes one of boundless curiosity in the pursuit of wisdom and truth. Like an arrow, you aim for the stars, guided by the fire of your own convictions. Nurture your inner philosopher to embark on a voyage of self-discovery – immersing yourself in different cultures, philosophies and spiritual practices. Share your insights with those who seek the same forms of enlightenment. Space nourishes you. Often looking for that ‘no strings’ position in work and life, you like to keep your options open and STAY BOLD. New experiences enhance your sense of security. A good mentor with a way with words, you may struggle with forms of intimacy which conflict with your need for space. Ceres in Sagittarius grows and succeeds by having the freedom to expand and explore with an emphasis on the philosophies, religions, laws and cultures of foreign peoples.
Ceres Rx: KEY Variety Pack
While I’m hesitant to say this having dated multiple Sag players with hidden families, sometimes we all got to ‘mix it up’ before we commit. The key word being BEFORE! As the wild-card of the matrifocal zodiac, Ceres in Sag stokes the familial fire, as long as you promise to always leave the back door open! Craving a little of this, a little of that…as the spiritual nomad par excellence, for Ceres in Sag, freedom is KEY! And speaking of which, whether moonlighting as free galloping mare or existential ‘night-mare’ (you make the choice) thee stallion requires smooth, lasting energy from a natural and trusted source. Brought to you by the woman and LGBTQ-founded outfit KEY, this first-ever clean energy drink provides long-lasting fuel from a little-known source called ketones. What are they? In a nutshell, keytones are our body’s natural energy reservoir at work. Humans essentially run on two sources of fuels: sugars and ketones. While sugars spike blood glucose levels resulting in energy crashes, our bodies can alternatively convert fat into ketones – which is what happens when we’re exercising too hard or haven’t eaten. As a 100% natural pick-me-up, keystone-based beverages are made through a process of fermentation. KEY brand is co-founded with the mission to help fellow humans access untapped potential and unlock natural energy! Which is why KEY has created the world’s first ketone-fueled energy drink, minus the sugar blues and caffeine jitters typical of other brands. With the Variety Pack, you can sample each of three delicious flavors – Grapefruit Peach, Pineapple Passionfruit & Ginger Lime. With natural caffeine from green tea, no added sugar, no artificial stimulants, sweeteners, flavorings or colorings… KEY offers long-lasting smooth release sustained energy for increased mental focus and physical performance.

Ceres in Capricorn *The Master Builder*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Tyra Banks
A steadfast and resolute ‘Master Builder’ of sorts, your journey in this lifetime is one of discipline, perseverance and unwavering strength. Navigating obstacles with grace and determination, Capricorn’s indomitable spirit is fed by your loftiest goals. Break aspirations into manageable steps, celebrating each milestone along the way. By building a foundation of integrity, dedication and resilience, mastery of the material realms inspires others to follow in your footsteps. Ceres in Capricorn associates nurture with ascending the cosmic mountain toward status, legacy, achievement and success. At your best when feeling organized and in control, you can help others learn how to succeed. Ideally, caregivers in early childhood modeled discipline and time management, including how to effectively set and achieve goals. Taking great comfort in every achievement, self-acceptance is derived from tangible accomplishments. Not keen on surprises – goal setting and hard-work is more your style. Caution around letting some external definition of worldly success define you. If you come to equate feeling loved with your performance in this world you will always tend to feel left out in the cold. Having learned to take on much responsibility, you can now model this to others, demonstrating self-responsibility and providing practical tools. Ceres in Capricorn grows through accomplishment and success with an emphasis on responsibility, discipline, and perseverance.
Ceres Rx: 2-Tier Bento Box
As the mountain-climber and sustainable builder of the zodiac, Ceres in Capricorn says double the tiers, double the clout! The 2-Tier Bento Box by meliibaby offers much more than just a lunchbox, it’s a canvas for the long-lost inner child. Along the Cancer-Capricorn parent-child or work-family axis, Ceres in Capricorn benefits by aiming to make the daily grind of life just a little more playful and fun. With two spacious compartments, this modern and tasteful Bento is perfect for creating lunchtime masterpieces, taking nourishment to new heights.
Personally, as a mother, half-way through first grade it became very clear that the standard lunch apparel wasn’t cutting it for my son. Almost everyone else had a bento box, he announced. And he wanted one too! Whether you’re packing the lunch for your own children or yourself (meliibaby food storage containers are great for kids and adults!) the various sections make the business of healthy portion-sizes and balanced meals all the more easy to achieve. For school-aged youth, it helps them access their lunch confidently and independently. No soggy sandwiches or yogurt explosions! For adults, you can happily pack all your condiments for a healthy, rounded meal that hits each and every tastebud. Complete with matching integrated spoon and fork, the 2-Tier Bento Box is 100% food and dishwasher safe in addition to being free from harmful chemicals like BPA, lead, cadmium, PVC and phthalates.

Ceres in Aquarius *Rebellion, Meet Common Sense*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Jay-Z
Nurturing style is innovative and progressive, fostering a sense of individuality and equality. Expresses care through supporting unconventional ideas, encouraging intellectual stimulation and raising thee freak flag high! Ideally, caregivers in early childhood promoted your self-determination and a recognition of the rights of others. Self-acceptance is achieved when you follow your own original and unique life path. In turn, one can help others access and accept their eccentricities – guiding them to follow the beat of their own drum. Avoid becoming a rebel without a cause, cultivating the self-discipline to handle the responsibilities that accompany true freedom. Ceres is the Earth Mother in you, showing one how to feel at home in your own skin, how wealth-building affords independence and why healthy habits preserve life-force energy. Is your relationship to your body more theory than practice? Are you driven more by rebellion than common sense? Excessive nervous energy is more than likely, including trauma responses like disassociation. Finding regular grounding practices to calm the storms of electricity seething through your body is key. Let your self-care practices be as wild as you. Maybe you prefer to take a revolutionary approach to your diet and wellness, just make sure you actually eat! Avoid getting locked into a lifestyle that requires more money than you can actually earn – you deserve more freedom than that. Seek out non-traditional income sources like crowdsourcing. Ceres in Aquarius grows and succeeds by nurturing their uniqueness and individuality with an emphasis on self-determination and originality.
Ceres Rx: FOTO FOTO
Visionary, prophetic, revolutionary, detached Ceres in Aquarius chooses the path of idealism. Ancients associated Aquarius with the ‘Seat of the Flowing Waters,’ – with a water jar, hence the term ‘water bearer.’ In Sumer the jar was carried by Gula, Goddess of healing and childbirth. In Egypt with Nut in the sky pouring milk from her breasts and water from her womb. In Hebrew, Aquarius is Delilah, whose name means ‘her water-pitcher.’ In an excavation of earlier myths revering female genital power, Greek myth gave the water-bearer a sex change, hence the radical queerness forever more associated with the sign. A visionary living in the world of tomorrow, one may be a revolutionary like double Aquarius Angela Davis, respecting movements with shared leadership over personality cults. Capricorn builds institutions, Aquarians work through them to reform and radicalize society. Liberation through non-attachment screams Ceres in Aquarius. Ironically, Valentine’s Day occurs during Aquarius season, because it is when birds in the wild choose their mate. In the most natural sense, Aquarius is the sign which epitomizes taking a ‘bird’s eye’ view of the situation. With the eco-friendly, modern and stylish disposable camera by FOTOFOTO, you can even share your unique vantage point with the world. Hailed as the film camera made out of 100% trash, it’s made from upcycled waste. Not only that, every camera gets recycled over and over. Add to that FOTOFOTO’s patented light-sensing flash and cinema-grade 35mm film (just like the Hollywood directors!) – FOTOFOTO photos prove richer in color and deeper in vibrancy. Because as any real photographer knows, film is forever. Not only that, just send your camera back to the company when you’re finished. Photos are developed within 2-3 days at no extra charge. Each cam includes one pre-loaded roll of 35mm film, bubble mailer and prepaid shipping for included development service. If it’s not the sustainable point-and-shoot film camera of your dreams, you’ll at least appreciate that FOTOFOTO’s innovative zero-waste model aims to divert some of the 50 million tons of e-waste generated each year which otherwise ends up in landfill.
