This past NYFW, esteemed fashion designer Malan Breton showcased his latest collection for the SS 2025 season. Breton’s designs have been worn by celebrities such as Paula Abdul, Priyanka Chopra and Janelle Monae. He has also designed the government uniforms and is an official government-appointed ambassador for Taiwan ROC.
The Malan Breton showcase took place in the historic Léman Ballroom for EPNFW. The location was fitting as the collection matched the striking cultural setting with sharply tailored looks in leather, silk, and wool fabrics. Breton’s SS 2025 collection surrounded the themes of betrayal, revenge, and hope. Notable Attendees viewing the showcase were Princess Jazmin Grimaldi, Ian Mellankamp, Crystal Waters, Quincy, Jean Shafiroff, Consuelo Vanderbilt, Michael Musto, Carmen D’Alessio, SAG Award Winner Jessica Pimentel, Tony Award Winner Baayork Lee, Tony Award winner Danny Burstein, Pierre Crespeau, and Ben Hazlewood.

The showcase was dominated by leather looks in variations of soft browns and warm white tones. Pieces tastefully interchanged the two colors in geometric block panels and strip detailing. Tall collars, pointed shoulders, and clever pleats added intrigue in the overarching aesthetic of feminine dominance.

Movement from trench coats and flared pants made the leather appear supple, softening the image while keeping the element of fierceness and subtle danger. Midway, the earth tones shifted into galactic silver and striking all black dresses.

The end of the collection was marked with bright yellows with soft flowing elements to mark the “hope” aspect of the collection. International supermodel and activist Elton Ilirjani graced the runway in this portion, rocking a bright yellow leather bustier with matching shorts, yellow cathedral shoulder cape veils and silver thigh high boots. Ilirjani also worked with Breton in his fashion film titled “Je Suis Mona” that follows him through 45 shows containing fall winter collections for 2024 and 2025.

Models walked down the aisles to the sound of Zeke Thomas, son of NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas, playing a futuristic experimental techno set composed by Breton. Their tightly composed silhouettes were accompanied by watches from the Ladies Coutura Collection by Seiko Watch of America. The hair team providing their sleek hairstyles and romantic flavoured curls were led by stylist Marco Maranghello. The beauty team behind the collection was led by Emmy Nominated Vincenza Carovillano.

Malan Breton’s latest collection for SS2025 is an indicator of the movement towards sharp looks that balance power and femininity.
