Believe it or not, I have never even pierced my ears, much less any other part of my body, so I decided to sacrifice my niece for a belly piercing. She is young and was up for the challenge. When we arrived at Wildlike, we met with our piercer, Sydney, and selected the jewelry that would go in the piercing. There is a variety to choose from, and all are made from pure metals. Wildlike requires that anyone they pierce, use their jewelry. Sydney expertly recommended the best jewelry for the navel piercing. Once the jewelry was selected, we went into the piercing room which is spacious, with a table to lie on, a full-length mirror, and a chair. There is also a sink and necessary sanitary products, including latex gloves, that Sydney wore.
Sydney first had my niece stand up so that she could draw lines on the navel area where the piercing would be done. Then came time for the piercing, and our brave subject lay down on the table while Sydney prepared the needle. I anticipated that the area would be numbed, but at Wildlike they do not use numbing cream because it constricts the tissue and can cause the piercing to be crooked. Wildlike wants to ensure the quality and accurate placement of their piercings. So, Sydney skillfully, and quickly was able to insert a needle and the jewelry through the navel area, with no more than slight discomfort.
When the piercing was complete there was minor redness that only lasted about 30 minutes. Sydney gave us specific instructions for post piercing care, which included no bathing for two months. Honestly, for my niece and me that was the hardest phase of healing. Taking a bath is a daily ritual for both of us.
In the end, it was worth the sacrifice according to my niece. She looked amazing with the navel piercing and I believe I have found a safe, quality place to get my ears pierced one day. I highly recommend visiting Wildlike for ear, nose, navel. and nipple piercings.
