With more than 10,000 pumpkins from Upstate New York, the Summer Club Rooftop in Long Island City has swapped its bumpin’ pool party vibes for a fall wonderland aesthetic. In a multitude of shades and shapes, the pumpkins are so incredibly gorgeous that it would be hard not to snap a ton of pics. It all makes for an especially perfect setting for capturing fall images of your kids while keeping them entertained. And, this might just be the spot to land those coveted autumnal #couplegoals shots for your socials.

On the amusement front, there are family-friendly stations to keep the kiddies happy like face painting and archery with cool, blacklit targets. For adults, there is a tarot card reading activity for the brave and a pumpkin-smashing zone that looks like a great opportunity to relieve some of the week’s stress. (Spoiler alert: Pumpkins don’t look as easy to smash as you might think!)

Spooky Cocktails and Finger Foods

For the under-21 crowd, the cityside Pumpkin Patch has chilly-weather drinks like apple cider and hot chocolate, but there is also a list of fun Halloween-themed cocktails for imbibers. (The classic “Angry Balls” drink combining Angry Orchard cider and Fireball whisky was a hit on the night I was there.)  Handhelds like corn dogs, chicken fingers, and pretzel bites can be found on the menu, and there’s a convenient food court area for eating. Guests looking for a VIP experience can even purchase a cabana reservation, and weekends from 8–10 p.m. have been designated for adults only.

PumpkinsTake Home Some of the Fun

Some ticket packages include the opportunity to choose a pumpkin for keeps. Admittedly, it was a gratifying task to peruse the various piles of pumpkins and pick that special one to accompany me on the subway ride home. For little ones, this could lead to even more entertainment if the chosen pumpkin’s fate is to be painted or carved. The Cityside Pumpkin Patch will be open until Halloween, and prices start at $20. More pricing information is below, and tickets can be purchased through Bucket Listers at https://bucketlisters.com/experience/pumpkin-patch-in-nyc.

Amy Hamblen

After spending over a decade in New York, Amy Hamblen is still impressively bad at giving directions around the city. Fortunately, she makes up for it with an abundance of solid happy hour recommendations. Amy is originally from Indiana, and whether or not her years spent covering the food and entertainment scene in NYC has earned her a seat at the table may be debatable, but it's of little consequence — she much prefers a stool at the bar.
