Fall is my favorite time of year. Even though I’ve long graduated college, it still feels like back to school season, and I’m extra motivated to refresh my routines. I’m sharing my current favorite beauty products in this three-part series, so you, too, can achieve the autumn glow-up of your dreams.
First up: skincare.
Hydrating Facial Cleanser from Topical Skin ($35)
Effective skincare begins with an effective first step. This cleanser from science-based brand Topical Skin contains a range of botanicals, amino acids, and antioxidants to gently remove debris and makeup.
Red algae, aloe leaf, and centella asiatica help with hydration, while cholesterol and ceramide strengthen the natural skin barrier. However, the coolest ingredient has to be safflower oleosomes, which slowly release safflower oil and vitamin E to give your skin long-lasting moisture. The creamy, gel-like texture transforms into a smooth lather, making for a luxurious experience.
As someone who has issues with harsh cleansers, I notice that this one makes my skin feel fresh without drying it out. I can even use it twice when I need a double cleanse.
On The Glow Serum from Wanderluxe ($29)
When I travel, bringing my full-size skincare bottles is always a hassle. Wanderluxe is a sustainable brand attempting to fix this problem and more. All of their products are in the form of dissolvable petals—all you have to do is add water. It’s convenient for trips, but it’s also zero-waste and extremely environmentally-friendly. It’s a great alternative to plastic bottles and tubs, both for you and the planet.
Even though Wanderluxe has innovative packaging, the brand doesn’t compromise on quality. Their glow serum has niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, proven ingredients to hydrate, minimize pores, and soothe inflammation.
Vitamin C Serum from Good Molecules ($14)
Vitamin C is a powerful ingredient that fights harmful free radicals, slows skin aging, and prevents sun damage. Good Molecules’ lightweight serum contains two advanced forms of vitamin C to brighten, boost collagen, and reduce dark spots. It also contains oryzanol, an antioxidant from rice bran oil, that protects your face from environmental stressors.
While the typical concentration of vitamin C in skincare products is 10 to 20%, this formulation only has 8%. However, the brand assures that their serum is still effective because it uses more stabilized forms of vitamin C that don’t degrade as quickly. Plus, the packaging utilizes an airless pump to prevent oxidation.
Sensitive Care Complex from Blissoma ($64)
If you have sensitive skin, this may be one of the best products on the market. Blissoma’s entire Pure line is unscented and free from gluten, ethyl alcohol, nuts, parabens, silicones, and some common allergens. This moisturizer contains 17 botanical ingredients like calendula, which reduces redness, and pumpkin seed and baobab oils, which are rich in vitamins A, C, D, and E.
The Sensitive Care Complex has a beige color, but it quickly melts into a sheer finish on the skin. I love that it’s moisturizing without being greasy or heavy. I’ve used this for the past two weeks, and I’m happy to report that it hasn’t broken me out at all. I’ve also gotten lots of compliments on my skin after incorporating it into my routine.
